I think you misread . . .
It was $300 for the first 6 months, then a "trust me its cheap enough to be worth it" unnamed fee for another 36 months. I am sure there will be a modest finance charge as well. Unless it is less than $2 per month for the next three years, they are sneaking you over a barrel and will probably forget to bring the Vaseline (or even kiss you first).

Also, will they guarantee that they will not charge you more to migrate it over to your next computer when this one needs replaced in 30 months?

This is pure carnival shtick. It is no wonder they did not even bring up the idea of TCO. It is probably too scary to print.

I am not a Linux troll. I don't even have it installed on any system. But it certainly looks more attractive than this bow-on-a-pig.
