It is NO SURPRISE that
the ms windows PC s/w has a %90+ markup. Looking at the
latest financial reports from MS, one could see that their
client + office s/w division raked in billions in pure profit.
At the same time their 'server' division had huge loses.

Form their financial results one could tell were and HOW MS
is making money from: the client OS and office apps have
received very little in investment, and, this explains the fact
that, minus cosmetic changes, this s/w has NOT changed
since 1998. The lack of investment in the same s/w has
lead to the latest embarassing virus / worms outbreaks that
have cost the ISPs, organizations and indviduals, alike,
BILLIONS of $$$ in overhead to clean up this cantankerous
mess.

The road to good s/w is LONG and requries concerted and
strenuous effort. It remains to be seen if MS can pull
through its server s/w with the necessary security, stability
and scalability properties. MS has just started realizing
this.

Bye bye %90+ markups....
