And therein lies what you don't
understand, and that is the human need for
individuality, and the capacity to set up a
system to conform to your style and how you work.
I like the fact that I can use KDE or Gnome at
home for my family and I, although my wife seems
to prefer XFCE4, I prefer Blackbox, but for the
sake of my co-workers will use KDE on my laptop.

My Grandmother, surprisingly enough, likes
FVWM95, my daughter follows in my footsteps with
Blackbox, although I catch her in KDE sometimes.
My Mother and Father enjoy KDE as do my Sister,
but her husband prefers Gnome and so it goes. My
entire family uses Linux and they all appretiate
the fact that they have choice. They can tailor
the computer, a tool mind you, to fit their needs
and personality. (Okay so sometimes I have to
help out a bit with the more complex stuff, so I
provide tech support.)

These desktops were designed by "nerds" to
provide a certain look, feel, level of control
and fucntionallity. If a person wants to point
and click and be happy, Gnome or KDE. If a person
prefers to tweak or a simple environment, then
Blackbox, Openbox, XFCE....

For a corporate environment, yes I would agree on
either selecting Gnome or KDE for the common
environment within a company. But the company
should have the choice of which desktop / WM it
wants to use. That should not be dictated to the
company.

As far as the Macitosh being limited, well I
cannot speak from any experience other than the
couple of demos I have seen at Fry's. And it's
anything but limited.
