I know many people who have done just that. I have a full legal copy that registered just fine, and another computer that was with legal wouldn't so I told them about hacker ware they thanked me and are very happy today. That was just one many I have encountered. And I had to go through the but probe twice it was legal and verified once, yet I had to do it again. I run sp1 version XP just fine thank you and don't need any of their updates that they say protect my computer I have been running 2 years on same OS with no problems no viruses no spyware. And Microsoft can't call home if I don't let it.

Really I am not even mad about it. I just don't care. If Microsoft were not so damn greedy then people would more than happy to pay like $25 for a legitimate copy of XP and install it, even if they bought the OS from Dell with a computer. The problem lays it the fact that Microsoft charges a lot of money by US standards for their OS. That is the core of why the user is upset and everyone should be. It is the only OS for many software titles and should you need to run one of these as most people do then you have to have the OS. It is not a matter of choice at that point. If it is then Linux is a proper OS that will serve your purpose. So there for it is at the point since the US government will stand up for the people before the dollar it up to us. We have been left out in the cold by those who swore to serve and protect us. If a pirated copy of XP is what it takes so be it. I would prefer in defiance of Microsoft that people would consider.
