The only reason I see...
...for only going after Red Hat with this claim is that FireStar hoping for the case to get bungled in their favor. The sale of JBoss to Red at just completed, so there's opportunity of confusion from record transfers. The fact that the suit is in a Texas court that speeds through patent trials increases the opportunity for mistakes. Also, as analysts point out, other players such as Sun and Oraclehave bigger pockets, but theyare more established, can easily put together a solid defence, and can afford better lawyers.

If FireStar wins this case, they will probably use it as leverage do to legal precedence to go after everyone else and force a settlement.
