Stop defending, fanboy, you're in the wrong.
Have you ever heard of (legal) aquisition or licensing? Based on your logic, no company would ever work with any other company.
And where did you learn about ethics, from Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling's summer camp for future scam artists? Maybe you should become a patent reviewer.
MS has always known that it is cheaper to take someone else's R&D by hook or crook than to develop their own. The problem is that they can't properly develop, market, or support things that they steal, because they lack a basic understanding of the stuff.
