Either way, stupid for Microsoft to fight this.
Just more and more bad publicity. They will lose. Really, the biggest benifit of the antitrust cases has been to focus atention on Microsofts business practices and what they have done to screw customers. The remedies have proven inefective. Also, Microsoft ignoring security for so long makes it almost imposible to patch it up later. The need to lock customers in forces them to do some very un-orthadox things that drive up complexity and make on time delivery, bug free, and secure software almost imposible. Really there are a lot of huge mistakes that Microsoft has made that will be their un-doing. They would have been much better off in the long run if they had changed management, apoligized, and let the judge spit them up and force them to compete. Their public image is at an all time low.
