All that changed with Apple's Intel Move

Multicore is the reason Ou's blog is not relevant.

needs to be reworked using what is being called business computers or finish computers (my phrase). These are personal computers using Intel and AMD multicore technology and what we use to call PIMs or cell phones. The latest move by President Bush regarding CO2 is also relevant because this multicore technology uses less power which - no mater how inconvenient a truth translates - into less greenhouse effect.

Bottom line, the multiple CPUs matter and as Ou states in the URL and how fast the CPU doesn't at least when it comes to OpenOffice. The CPU speed does matter (I suspect) when it comes to Office 2007 however and the inconvienet truth here is that all those multi-core chips clock the CPUs much slower than last years models. That is how they get power savings.

Blame management not the messangers here. Intel has been preaching this for at least a year. Microsoft managers likely believed that Microsoft had the monopoly power to supress multicore technology for at least another 5 years. Unfortunately for their shareholders and deveolopers the competition between AMD and Intel forced these manufacturers to release sooner than Microsoft managers would have liked.

The above fully explains both Vista and Office delays. How Ballmer keeps his job is beyond me. I actually never got around to blaming Bill Gates. He was just the unfortunate born into a crime family. I blame legal advise now. Nuke Neukom:> Note smiley. But seriously, the man should lay low. No president posts at ABA or directorships at charities. We are a polite society after all.
