Turn Flash and Flex into an ISO standards where many vendors can create development and runtime solutions and I'll give it a second look. Flash has been one of those tools that business-wise I've only found to be an appealing option for web sites/pages with a short life, such as a marketing page. It's never looked to me to be a technology you would want to build a system on when you anticipated the system would be in production for a long time.
