The Fun Is Yet To Come
Several times recently MS reps have made side comments about the tens of millions of illegal copies of Windows running in China. When WGA goes worldwide in a few months, how will MS approach the Chinese gov't with the news that it's time to pay up? And how do they collect - go to Beijing and negotiate a site license while they sit and twiddle with the kill button that will begin the takedown of every important network in China? (I'm having Bond flashbacks.) As smoothly as WGA has gone for them so far, when MS confronts the China issue their current morass could look pretty mundane in comparison.

Interesting to consider, too, that MS has chosen not to go worldwide with WGA until around the same time as their projected release of Vista, which would seem to make purchasing Vista an alternative to purchasing another copy of XP just a few months before the new release is available as they've done here. That should make it easier to find someone willing to make the Beijing trip.
