On July 11, 2006, Microsoft will stop support for Win98 & Me. This will FORCE people to buy XP if they want to be safe and have fewer problems.
Well, at the NORMAL retail price of $199 for XP Home and $299 for XP Pro, this should generate another BILLION dollars in pure profit for Microsoft.
Microsoft should be forced to drop their current OS pricing to 10% of what they charged before they discontinued support of any given operating system.
Right now, you almost have to take out a Mortgage on your home to afford Microsoft Products. And they wonder why there's so much Piracy in the world.
Wake up Microsoft. It's YOUR fault there's so much Piracy. YOUR Software design allowed for it.
I do not condone Piracy. Sure Microsoft should make a reasonable profit for their work, BUT, not be allowed to charge MONOPOLY PRICING on their software.
Soon, XP will no longer be supported and everyone will be FORCED to upgrade to VISTA. And if you reinstalled after the cut-off date for XP, you might not get XP activated....
At least with 98, you didn't need Microsoft's special permission to use it.
So, if the pattern continues, Microsoft will FORCE everyone to upgrade and pay whatever price Microsoft feels like charging if you want to use a computer.
And as for the Linux users - be forewarned. Microsoft will be charging YOU to access their servers and force other servers to do the same for all non-Microsoft OS's. What this means is that if you use Linux and want to surf the internet, you CAN'T unless you PAY Microsoft for the special access. Remember, there will be a VISTA SERVER OS coming soon. And if Microsoft continues, they will fix it so that only Vista OS'S can communitcate and gain access through VISTA SERVERS.
Just wait for the OFF SWITCH Microsoft will use if they THINK you aren't paying for software. And the Government will, by law or especially court order in partictular, make Microsoft switch you off if you copy or download a song - unless you pay for it.
And the price will be whatever they want to charge.
The Copyright laws need to be adjusted for the people, not the copyright holders.
Put a 3-year limit on non-tangeable copyright's/patents, not lifetime+50years. At least people won't be screwed anymore by all the high prices. - Posted by: Zolar Posted on: 07/06/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
