3. The onl way you ound was to flatten the system and rebuild from scratch.
4. This is your mom, not some gamer junkie.

How do you think you the problem came about?

Do you think the world would be a better place if us IT professionals collaborated?
Answer:
Obviously your answer would be yes.

What would I have done in the same situation?
Answer:
Rebuild the system as Linux.
