You may want to think about your ideas a bit more. Are you suggesting that the original Windows price should be the "...the total number of copies divided by the total sales price..."? That would be the average price of all copies which is, of course, the average price of all copies by your definition. Are you counting pirated copies in this total copies? That would really lower the average now wouldn't it? Also, since they had no idea how many copies would be sold until they sold them, it might be a bit tough to use your "brilliant" formula. Maybe they post determine the price, then say refund money to those who paid more than the average of say 5 years sales and dun folks who underpaid the average. Yeah! I like that. Different folks pay different amounts for Windows based on how they buy it, e.g. oems which get lots of copies for a lower price (volume discounts) so they pay less and charge customers less). Are you suggesting that everyone pay the same for every copy regardless of how they get it? If so, what is your specific amount?

Also, Genuine Advantage does not treat everyone as a Pirate. It simply checks to see if your copy is legal. How else would you check to see if each copy is legal? Maybe say install it on every machine, but actually have say only half of them actually work? Now that would be a really powerful tool, wouldn't it? I am not sure you would know if they were treating you like a pirate or not.
