Lower the price, etc etc
As many who know me from other posts, I am no lover of Microsoft. Not because of the product but rather because of the company and its shady practices.

However, I know many sites that sell LEGAL copies of XP Professional OEM for only $105-110 which is truly in line with many commercialized versions of Linux. (Suse, Xandros, Red Hat, etc)
So the price, at that point, is fair.

Also, as much as I hate Microsoft, I agree that they should be allowed to know if a customer downloading updates and patches is truly a licensed and legal customer. They are not obligated morally or legally to support people pirating their software.

However, going back to the shady business dealings, they also should not covertly install WGA like they have been doing and will continue to do. Let XP go and just bundle this "tool" in with Vista. No one can really argue with it if they know this tool will be part of the OS prior to purchase. People can CHOOSE not to upgrade to Vista if they want.

Ah well...what can you do. Microsoft owns the world.
