Actually, the Huge news was IBM's backing of Linux in a major financial way. That was a real Stunner to many people. Novell actually bought SuSE Enterprise version. I didn't see the Pro and personal versions in the mix.

Bill Gates must have read my comment on his commentary. I said that he should take his time and do Longhorn right the first time, rather than rushing it out the door.

There are several Open Source Licenses, of which Microsoft takes part in one: Open BSD, where they can take, but don't have to give back. This is what Win NT was partly built on. On the other hand, MSFT hates the GPL, cause they would be required to give back, in the form of Source Code.

I have known of Novell's embracing of Linux for some time.

I use Linux and I use Windows.
