The retail distribution of Windows 2000, the day it hit the shelves, had 67,000 bugs in it (at least that's what Microsoft engineers admitted to), what distro of Linux EVER had that many KNOWN bugs in it?
How many bugs were/are in WXP, or better yet W-Server 2003? This scenario just cannot happen under the Open Source model.
The only yardstick in the case of dependability, safety and security is does the code represent well written, well tested APIs against known code?
Other than those working inside of Microsoft, how many developers really have a chance to write good, safe and effective strategic Apps for the various flavors of Windows when a Microsoft service pak could invalidate the underlying code the Apps were written for?
