- Who had the copyrights?
- The key Unix copyrights are still in Novell's name. They were NEVER transfered to the old Santa Cruz Operation, and thus were never transfered to Caldera/SCO. That is why Caldera/SCO had to REAPPLY for those same copyrights. And that is why they are now having to sue Novell to try to get Novell's copyrights invalidated. But this whole mess may never make it to the courtroom as SCO is spending their wad of litigation money on buying back their sinking stock which is reacting to daily revelations. In any case, this whole ball of wax is such a tangled web of contracts and copyrights that SCO will never have enough money to successfully litigate it to victory. There are just to many pitfalls ... this thing will be in court forever, which is far longer than SCO's funds will last.
