Actually...
Apple Computer has trademark infringement problems of their own. Remember the music label owned by the Beatles? It is known as Apple Records and was formed in the 1960s. The Beatle's Apple Corps. which is the parent company owned by the Beatles has recently sued Apple over its Apple Itunes service. The Beatles had an agreement with Apple Computer that they could use the name Apple so long as they used it solely in the sale of computer products. Apparently, the Beatles think this Itunes service has stepped across the line and has filed suit.

What can be more generic than the word "apple"? But yet there is significant controversy between these two companies.

By the way, I believe that the word "windows" is too generic to be trademarked. But then again, this case will ride on the opinion of the judge in charge of the case, and not on the opinions of guys and gals like me.
