They're corporate people. All they see is potential for profit.
TCO, ROI, that is what they see.

People can gush and gibber all they want over how "benevolent" they are being... but look at where the money goes. And what's happening in those countries.

Add EVERYTHING up and it sure starts to look a bit less rosy. Nixing Malaria is nice... but is it really for humanitarians reasons; what with 6 billion humans on this planet and all? And offshoring to these very countries where these diseases are ripe? I'll keep this simple: It's about cheap labor and not ruining the "Return on Investment" or "Total Cost of Ownership". Humanitarianism has precious little to do with it.

If offshoring never happened, my thoughts would be TREMENDOUSLY different and I would be as much in praise as the blind pro-Gates folks are. No doubt about it. But forgive me if I can't see the humanity in this. Not with the way corporations have been doing things the last few years. I only see more exploitation and long-term suffering in the name of a short-term "cure". (And we all know there is more money in a symptom-relieving product than an actual cure... I betcha anything for Malaria will have to be taken regularly...)

Now the next question to ask is, who'd sell out to become lackeys for these folks?
