I tend to agree.
I for one think P2P is a valuable technology and in no way should it be thrown out with the bath water. However, I also agree that those making the software must acknowledge how it is being used and the majority of it's use is for copyright infringement. (One only need to look at what is being "shared".)

From a technology stand point, there is no reason that the content providers can't add a "marker" in the content to be identified by the P2P software and refuse to allow it to be "shared".

The problem of course is that all those "sharing" would drop the software like the plague and the P2P companies know it. While they claim ignorance as to their software's use, they aren't dumb enough to believe it would be a financially rewarding endeavour if it were not for sharing of copyrighted works. The fact is, they make their money by attracting people to their adds and people tolerate it because they are getting their content for free. In other words they ARE making money from others works and they are in no hurry to do anything that may disrupt it.
