But to operate on the worldwide stage openly, i.e. freedom of import/export, immigration, human rights etc, China has a long way to go. Yes they could crush the world economy if they wanted to but for what purpose? It would result in self destruction. They tried to buy an american oil company not long ago... how far did they get even though they offered the most cash? "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" pretty much sums it up.
