I can grasp that, but what I don't get is how this can be referred to as a 'Microsoft monopoly'. How can one monopolize a market in which the product is given away, and in which in fact the producer no longer even operates (Web fonts)? Why was the term 'monopoly' used? It doesn't seem to apply. The term 'de facto standard' seems to be more appropriate.

It sounds like this is an issue for all web developers to address. It has absolutely nothing to do with any Microsoft 'monopoly'.
