I don't like monopolies either
but the sad truth is, here we are, stuck with these Microsoft web
fonts. Having been trained in typography and spending most of my
life in the print world til 1995, I found it 'ugly' that Microsoft had
cornered the market on web fonts. But,they were able to distrbute
them well -- on the major platforms. I think for most business-
type sites we are still going to be stuck with Verdana / Arial for
quite sometime. Serifs only seem to find favour with personal sites
(or long forgotten ones). Pity too, because I really like the look and
legibility of Georgia onscreen. Oh well . . .
