I agree with you
For MS's own sake, I hope they calmly tell their customers that it's important that they make sure the product is secure, cleanly coded (even if it is closed source, cleanly coded software will mean fewer bugs and quicker fixes when there a bug), and relatively bug-free. And I hope they tell them that in the long term this is what's best for both customer and vendor, rather than rushing out a new poorly coded product to meet the demands of impatient managers who don't understand the importance of quality.

I just hope that when MS does make its release, whenever that happens to be, that they come through on their security promises, that their patches will be few and fast, and that they are more economincally competitive than they are now. Lack of quality software at a decent price is what is driving me away from them, so coming up with quality software at decent prices will be the only way to win me back. Breaking to the pressure of releasing more timely code at the cost of quality will only drive me further away.

And you're right, an untimely release will not adversely affect corporate business. Businesses seem to be doing just fine right now, and if your business goes under just because MS didn't release software in a given year then something's seriously wrong. In fact, releasing poorly coded software now can hurt a business' bottom line far more than releasing cleanly coded software 2 or 3 years later.
