Much dif.
XP is much different than W2K. components such as the IP protocol have been built into the kernel. This has made XP much bulkier and the kernel is not as stable as W2K. XP has other additions such as IPv6 and UPnP that are not ready for prime time. And as usual, MS added their own little twist making it proprietary to an extent. The differences go on and on. Until you work in the trenches with the two products they may seem nearly alike. At this point in time, W2K is a very stable and productive OS. Very little maintenance is required. And the user still has considerable controll over W2K's configuration. Something MS is determined to do away with thinking their OS can be self supporting. This is probably the biggest problem with MS's plans. The user needs to always have the ability to completely control his IT environment. After all, it is the user's environment and not Microsoft's.
