1) Try to get MSDE to work with a non-MS language.

2) A MS database limited to four gigs doesn't hold that much information. Just because an application needs an embedded db, doesn't mean that there isn't a significant amount of data. If the app only needs to store a small amount of data, why go to the trouble of learning MSDE, why not just use text files.

3) Jet is crap. Access, flat-out, does not work for a significant amount of data where access speed means anything.

4) Do you even know anything about MySQL or open-source software?

5) I bet you use IIS and have been heavily and negatively infected by: MyDoom, MSBlaster, Nimda ........
