"PS (I do use Windows & other MS S/W, and it's so very true that they try as hard as they possibly can to "lock you in". That is B.G.'s & S.B.'s 1st priority. Security is an afterthought & again, read my header & 1st line "

you want ms to control security (because people are too lazy to get a firewall set up) yet you do not want then to control their OS, you can not have it both ways, they can only control security if they control the OS
