If Vista is using more energy and creating more heat in laptops, it's not a stretch to say it's doing the same thing in desktops.
If you upgrade a large corporation with a few thousand workstations, which then burn more energy and create more heat (which means that the environmental systems must work that much harder), how much more energy will be consumed? With the extra costs (not to mention hardware, licensing, and training expenses), would the upgrade really be worthwhile?
Yeah, I'm sure the extra expense is minimal per workstation, but you get a bunch of them in one place, it can make quite an impact.
Other than the pretty bells and whistles (most of which I'm likely to disable, in the interest of increased performance), most of the security upgrades are already available through other vendors and, it seems, at a lesser cost when considering everything - hardware, licensing, training, energy consumption, support, etc, etc, etc... - Posted by: Zeppo9191 Posted on: 06/02/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
