Who needs Linux?
Companies, that is. For laptops, Linux really is a fringe market. (No figures here to support) but I'll bet the number of Linux laptops is on the order of 2-5% of the market.

Point is: Intel doesn't *need* to support Linux. And if they do (which is a good thing, don't get me wrong)..

as well, they DON'T need to make their software "open source" to be able to run on Linux. Why should they? What does it gain them? They lose control of their intellectual property.. and.. what else?
