Yes, really. Linux passed Apple as the number 2
OS a couple of years ago on the desktop. Apple
is staying close, thanks to the bump due to Ipod
sales. Linux has long, long since passed Apple
on corporate desktops, and Apple is barely on the
radar re:servers. Not bad for a college kids
summer project, huh?

Apple had several good ideas, incorporating
Konqueror as their web browser, choosing BSD as
the core of their OS, etc. The problem is that
they hosed the Konqueror group, and have not been
able to keep their OS secure. That is quite
remarkable when you realize that BSD is
considered to be more secure than Linux. Has to
make you wonder about the competence of Apple
coders.
