Yes, this is 3-tier or N-tier development, and, for larger projects, has its advantages especially in encapsulating the various levels of functionality.

EJB is an open-source way of doing it, and Microsoft has their own equivalents.

I for one am curious about which database system and development tools ZD-Net uses for their TalkBack board — especially since you somehow responded to my post some two months before I wrote it, according to the date stamp. Now that is a neat trick! happy
