Yes, security is important but....
it depends of the kind of information and the context it will be used.

I used to worked wfor companie with very, very small communities(tax, payroll...) for clients and when it was cost vs security, cost always won. Try to have support for Linux for example. The access to it is not always posssible and even high-speed . Those people were farmer, shop keeper and not computer geek at all for the most part. At least, they could asked a kid/computer shop to help in Windows for very cheap. grin

Some had SQL(linux,windows...) system for 2-3 computer with an annual cost of support that was the price of our full product. They saved on the long with us because we used Visual Foxpro and it was fast for that need. The equipement was bought locally by them.

Going in a larger city with this kind of need, I do agree with you that security/stability would be very important.

Can't argue on that one grin
