Doesn't matter
Buying a new machine, is how the majority of the people get new versions of windows. Afrer all every version windows since the releas of NT4 have had all the features needed for business use. Why spend money on upgrades.

The best strategy would be to keep current infrastructure as long as possible, i.e. as long as it is supported by Microsoft. When your current Microsoft products gets end of lifed, get new machines with the latest and greatest OS available by that time.

That would mean considering upgrading to Vista sometimes around 2011 for most businesses. By then most bugs ought to be sorted out.

The above line of reaoning only applies if you use your system for business and have share holders to keep happy.

If you use your machine for perosnal use you would have much less trouble. Then you are free to just throw money at your problems without worrying about profit.

If your drivers doesn't work, buy new hardware. If your software doesn't work, buy or pirate new versions that works, the only thing you have to worry about is how much money you want to spend on your hobby.
