Confused, aren't you?
So what. You are free to post your photos in any format that
you like, if your friends can view it great, if not oh well. Someone
using Windows is also free to use all freeware formats, if they
want to cater to evangelists like you then they can post the
photos in that format. 95% of the population will have no
problem viewing any format that is created by a Windows
machine. The 5% who can't will live.

How on earth does windows vista have 95% of the market? How
does this new format have 95% of the market? are you saying
that open formats are bad? Are you personally trying to say if it's
not a Microsoft only format, there is something wrong
with it? Yes I want anyone (even windows users) to be able to see
the images I post on the web. So I spent the money on a good
digital camera, how does that make me an "evangelists" or a
"photo purest". If you are saying I demand high quality, then
maybe you're right. But understand it's my right to
demand high quality, for my money. As for your comment

A photo purest like you would post them in raw format
anyway, right?

No I wouldn't, I post them as JPEGS. Once they are processed,
JPEG is fine for web use. Would I ever use this "new" Microsoft
only
format? No, why waste my time? Then again I'm not a
member of the NBM either. So why attack me for expressing my
opinion? I have 30 years experience in the area of photography,
including darkroom and digital photography. Is my opinion
somehow less valuable than yours?
