Microsoft is in the business of sheeple
and they will be very successful in this, just as they were in
taking market share away from Real and QuickTime and making
it the default standard.

PNG is not the default standard for Apple picture clips.

MS will make conversion from jpeg, png, gif, tiff, pict (well
maybe not pict) a default easy item to do and hundreds of
millions of users won?t know the difference.

They will patent it and once it is ubiquitous, ask for a licensing
fee.

My only disappointment about the article is John Carroll didn't
write why this is so necessary and the world has been just a
primitive place to live without it.

My disappointment in Microsoft is that they want to use the
name Windows Media Picture or whatever they call it. They
really need to start canning the use of the Windows name, it has
become tired and reminds too many people of all the problems
they've had with it.
