so what the hell do you have AD for anyway?

so wait a minute, they say you have to use IPSec policies that deny all access to port 135? how did you configure that without AD? surely you didn't have the users set it up because they would have to be admins, and that would defeat the whole idea of security.

all MSI apps are installed with system level priv's if a user cant run without being an admin you can usually hack the ACL's for its registry entries and applications files/folders and push down the proper security for said entries using a simple security template.

either the organization making these demands has no clue how to run a secure windows shop or you are misunderstanding the requirements given.

hardley a Microsoft failure, AD is just ducky.
