QT designer
The QT toolkit from Trolltech is great. There is
a free designer (you have to pay for it to make
proprietary applications). Look on the web for
"QT designer" and it will bring you right too it.
Very similar to VB.

QT is C++ code. It works great with C++.

I'd recommend you either do a straight QT or
straight Java design. Sun has some good visual
tools for Java, but I think you will like QT
better.

Trolltech sells and supports QT. I believe it is
used in Adobe applications. I know KDE is
developed exclusivly for QT.

You can use Glade to design with GTK+, but I
don't think your company would like to go that
route. It sounds to me like they would rather
shell out the big bucks than use an open source
tool. It is their preferance.

Touch screens aren't a problem. Also, check out
Monta Vista Linux. They do a lot of stuff like
POS terminals. They are embedded Linux and
usually run on single board computers. Very fast
boot times and very rugged. They have
professional RAD tools also.
