Vista?? Linux?? Not even close

What most of replies are missing is something those of us with a 'techie' viewpoint forget. The average Joe doesn't want a computer in his living room, den, or even his office. He wants a device that will allow him to do certain actions as easily as possible. If there's a box around his TV controlling everything, he doesn't want to know about PlugNPlay or Drivers or Operating Systems or any of that. He wants to turn it on and watch what he wants when he wants. He may want to listen to some music or enjoy a live concert or just watch the news. He may want the daily weather and stock quotes or sports news to be superimposed alongside this function but, he really doesn't care how it gets there and why, in fact the less he knows the better.
To set up this wonderous device he only wants to plug a few things in, turn it on and he may have to go to a screen and click a few buttons but, thats all he truly wants to do anything more is too complicated and no fun.
Computer hardware is just now entering the stage where all of this technology can be brought together. I've often believed, a computer will be fast enough when turning it on, changing programs or, changing webpages is as fast a changing the TV channel...it ain't there yet.
If your Grandma can't run it...its too complicated. We are a long way off from that.
