And there is the problem!
The Mac Mini is so small that you can effectively hide it and yet still have it accessible. The point is it meets the criteria. Although I am not a Mac user I do have several friends that are and on several occassions that I have been to there homes, they have Mini's and looking about their home you wouldn't know it!

At 6.5" x 6.5" x 2" the size is beyond reproach and makes it easy to hide. Quiet? You bet. As for Steve Jobs control fetish, true or not is not for me to determine and with the advent of DRM that others (i.e. Hollywood and others of that cloth) they are just as guilty if not more so, and this includes Microsoft.

Either way you go you are going to encounter restrictions and controls against your full usage of what you purchase. This is where the Open Source movement is so appealing, those restrictions are lifted in many cases. But that is another topic another time.

I honestly don't see the hoopla over all this tech stuff for home entertainment systems. Buy a DVD player and a TV watch TV. Then again I still listen to LP's so I suppose that is an indicator of my position on the whole thing.

Bottom line is it's all hype and what purpose does it really serve? Oh sure the picture is "clearer" the sound "louder" but in the end the content is still the same isn't it? And the way I see it, since the quality of entertainment is diminishing into a serious state of apathy, this is the only way they can keep people hooked. One other thing, the way I see it is it just makes the already prevalant and intrusive ads much more annoying. My $0.02 on the matter.
