What I should have said,

the hardware is there from a design point of view.  All the designer has to do is put them together like puzzle pieces.  The real point is that it's not going to be anything like a PC experience.  The PC is quickly becoming legacy HW for the home.

There are too many issues with the PC that make a propietary solution more ideal.  That way the user is locked out of the critical software components, which helps solve both security and stability issues, and it could still be upgraded over the network as needed.

Probably the biggest missing piece is the killer app to really drive the convergence.
