Not a fair report on loss
By having software companies report losses due to piracy, what pricing do they use?
I have found that more pirates exist as the price of the software rises above reasonable.
Pirate will not waste time on a software that is fairly priced, but most of the piracy is on software that is high priced.
Companies should weigh the result of piracies as a measurement as to the publics acceprance on the end user selling price.
The more a company reports losses due to piracy, the more they refuse to accept the fact that their software is OVERPRICED.
We seem to forget the economic laws of supply and demand.
If software is overpriced and it cannot be pirated, then sales will be less than is the software is properly priced.
To allow software companies to report losses due to priracy is not a fair report. What pricing model did they use to determine the loss? Was it OEM Price?, Bubble Pack Retail Price?, Wholesale Price?, Cost of development and packaging price? Just what is the price they use to report these numbers? We need an equal basis to actually determine what the loss is.
Would they report the same losses if they had NOT sold that many units?
There does not seem to be logical sense of mind and very bad business sense. If a company is suffering losses because everyone pirates their software, then reduce the price and make more legitimate sales. Sounds like basic economics to me.
