WRONG
The dominance of the market is due to Microsoft's domination over the PC hardware market since the early 90's. Since then consumers have been force-fed Windows on every box that they buy retail, only recently do you have a choice of the OS on a machine you purchase, and that's on a limited number of manufacturers.

Take this analogy for example:

If everyone bought a Ford Taurus on their 16th birthday and all everyone drove was Ford Tauruses even though they broke down regularly but that was the only car available and the Ford company hyped its product constantly even though the car was a piece of crap, and down the line Chevy came along and released the Camaro, which was free, runs better and breaks down less often, do you think people would immediately run and jump in a Camaro? No, people would be skeptical about the Camaro and Ford would pull as much bad press on it as possible to keep people buying their car.

Same as Microsloth. They take average Joe consumer who has no clue about computers and shoves Windoze down their throats from day one. Sorry, but there are intelligent people out there who know Windows is a piece of crap, and that number is growing every day.
