RE: Free Soda
"...to keep the M$ drones working long hours and not to
complain."

Actually Microsoft was a way fun place to work originally, and we
weren't drones. When Ballmer took over, it really started
snowballing toward Hades. He's an accountant for g-d's sake! All
they (i.e. bean counters) care about is money! It's nothing
personal they tell you as they have security escort you off site.

Aside from doing away with a lot of our perks, they also started
"Six Sigma"-ing older, more experienced workers who were
productive, and outsourcing the positions to you-know-
where
(and Canada) because the older employees made
more money.

The really insulting part of it (to me) was, ms was already
paying a lot of us BELOW the national average for tech workers!
. I could have gotten a job in almost any company's I.T.
department starting out at double what I was making when
Microsoft fired me (while I was out on disability insurance due to
a spinal cord injury).

They have no honor, or loyalty to their employees, and that's
what will be their downfall eventually. Microsoft is a cyclical
company. They have dark times and then things will get better
for a while, then it goes down hill. But, when the upswing
comes, they don't seem to get as far up as they were previously.
