Microsoft developers lack skill
The vast majority of software developers at Microsoft (and I mean vast) are not the cream of the crop. At one time Redmond was the hub of the best in the industry. Then Microsoft got snobbish. Actually, I should say management and HR got snobbish. Instead of a focus on the software developers, who actually create the products, the company paid huge investment and capital on management. Layers, upon layers, upon layers of these people were hired. They had meetings just to write reports about how much time was spent writing reports and having meetings. The developers hit huge glass ceilings where they were outnumbered by management by 3-to-1 (three managers for every 1 software developer!) Managers who wanted to exceed in the company found that by firing the more expensive programmers and hiring cheap labor they could save the company money.

So whats left? A mess of under paid programmers who have questionable skills with enormous management overhead. And don't even try to wonder why Vista is delayed.
