As I believe that Sun eventually needs to phase out Solaris, this makes
sense for them. They get a rock-solid server OS in Ubuntu, with a huge "cool" factor you can NOT buy. And, Ubuntu could get a huge credibility boost making this run on advanced Sun hardware with the help of Sun engineers. Really a win-win proposition.

And, in a related note, when will Google start giving away CDs of Ubuntu loaded with all the Google goodies, OpenOffice, Click-n-Run etc???

Or, maybe Google should partner with Sun to offer dirt cheap Sun/Google-PCs runing Ubuntu with AMD CPUs.

The time is ripe for the masses that ONLY want web browser, email, simple word processing, VOIP, DVD player, etc.

Actually could be a great second computer, with the Windows box only used for the kids to play games.
