Called my Dell rep already...
My rep emailed me this news and told me to take the "appropriate action". I called my Dell rep and told him if any of our PCs were to come loaded with Java, I would have no choice but to file suit against Dell for intentionally spreading malware and viruses. As my rep has told me, there are Java viruses out there today doing heaps of damage. Luckily, we have no Java footprint at all and are safe. My other strategy is to follow Microsoft's advice and constantly be upgrading our servers and workstations so that the attack surface is always changing. My Dell rep told me we could just wipe the machines clean if we wanted but I reminded him that the remnants of the JRE could survive on the hard drive. My rep is taking me to lunch and will provide me Microsoft "facts" about Java I can use to further threaten Dell.
