What color is the sky in your universe, child? You must be under thirty years old not to know that there was a long ugly pre-Dell&Compaq period when IBM ruled the roost. Why do you think older documents refer to "IBM-compatible" computers, when what they mean is MS-DOS?

It was IBM's hasty, poorly-thought-out decision to buy Bill Gate's cruddy DOS that made the whole Microsoft empire possible. Didn't you know that? Read up on your computing history!

He made himself an instant millionaire in that transaction; and made himself a billionaire by outsmarting Steve Jobs' lawyers in negotiating the licensing agreement that let him perpetrate Windows.
