Extension of "Settlement terms
Why bother?

The settlement reads like it was written by the Microsoft Sales Department as a way to increase prices. It has worked.

The only thing that could have restored competition would have been to prohibit Microsoft from the OEM distribution channel. That wasn't done.

Of course Microsoft could have thwarted even that by using the money from Office to simply give away the OS, but that would have thwarted the pirates.
