Yep 2004.0
Due to being stupid and installing redhat 9 on my laptop at a company training seminar, It lasted all of about 4 hrs before i ran fdisk /dev/hda. I even downloaded the 2.6.3 source from kernel.org and installed it and it didnt help it much.

I just cant find a distro that I like better. I just have gnome and alot of net apps and almost everything in net-anyalizer (needed for work).

It is just I really dont think that Windows is really that bloated. Now im not referring to the kernels but everything besides the kernel, because there is no way that any MS kernel can even think to compete with the 2.6 kernels efficiency.

Besides I think windows main weakness is that it's code is iniffecient before it even gets burned to a CD.

On gentoo I recompile the entire system (emerge -eDb world) when gcc, glibc and the kernel headers jump a version and I usually notice a decent performance increase, with windows you have to wait for the next release. Not to mention on gentoo you never need to re-install just upgrade the packages, it's a nice streamlined process that others should emulate.

One other thing I like about gentoo is that once you install it you dont have to go and immedately update, because it is up to date out of the box.

"A VERY basic system can fit on a floppy. Its one of Linux's strengths, its very malleable to your needs and situation."

That is very true, I have a boot floppy at work used for changing NT local passwords and even my NBM co-workers swear by it.
