Reality - We are all Microsoft Developers

There can be no ABMs (anyone but Microsoft) because to be a software developer you have to at least design for the Microsoft ecosystem. That means the occasional email with a will-read-only with-Microsoft Office attachment.

Microsoft only developers have a similar problem because they have to plan for the occasonal will-read-only-with-the new version of Microsoft Office attachment. Its kind of a hoot - if it were all done accidentally.

Unfortunately, the US antitrust case established - I think - very well that Microsoft management wished to cause these kinds of problems because it supported their business model which involved obsoleting their old software with new rather than continuously improving a base set of code libraries.

It is this kind of business model that fails a company from ISO 9000 because ISO requires the addressing of customer satisfaction and Software, contrary to what Microsoft management would like us to believe, is not a consumable. It goes "stale" only by neglegance or in Microsoft's case criminal activity. Compare with WordPerfect Office (Corel Office)
